About us

We started many years ago as a group of dog owners who searched long and hard to find that glimmer of hope for our aggressive dogs. Instead, discovered the dark side of the “board and train” industry that left to our dogs in various stage of ill health.  Although the medical conditions varied, the one constant was that the dogs in many ways were behaviorally worse than when they left our care.  Subsequent trainers looking for new clients would further convince us they had the answers while fighting with others in the industry.  It was a long journey that left us feeling emotionally manipulated, wrought with guilt and financially duped.

In attempt to find the real answers for our ourselves, we put down the training books, and embarked on the journey of finding credible, scientific evidence-based research to get to the bottom of which methods worked, which were safe, and which improved our dogs.  We have communicated with and learned from veterinary behaviorists, trainers, and most importantly other dog owners as well as worked with dogs directly.

In hopes of encouraging people to find the right path to help their dog, we founded k9aggression.com back in 2002, a year later we created a complimentary support group on Yahoo groups which is run by volunteers, and in 2011 we created a presence on Twitter and Facebook.

Ultimately our aim is to empower you to make the best decisions for you and your dog.
